Abstract

The aim of study was to determine the abundance and growth pattern of prawns
(Macrobrachium resenbergii) in the Ogan River South Sumatera. This research
was conducted in Ogan River from Juli and November 2018. The results showed
that the total number of prawns was 191, which were dominated by 115 female
prawns and 76 male. The distribution of weight and length of female prawns are 8
classes with the highest values of 3-40,2 grams and 12,50-14,93 cm. Lenght and
weights relationship in Juli show that the growth pattern of prawns in the Ogan
River is allometric negative (b =1,785), long growth is faster than weight growth.
where as the lenght and weight relationship in November showed isometric with b
values 3,089. Water quality parameters measured were temperature (26−300C),
water transparancy (12–18 cm), pH (7,1−7,3), dissolved oxygen (6,9-7) and
plankton (4 class).
