PENDAYAGUNAAN SUMBER DAYA PERAIRAN UMUM UNTUK MENINGKATKAN MOBILITAS MASYARAKAT: MODA TRANSPORTASI SUNGAI DI KTM TELANG KABUPATEN BANYUASIN

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to assess the river transportation facilities and infrastructure needed to support population mobility. The research was conducted in Muara Telang Sub-district of Banyuasin District. Research carried out during the period of two months in January and February 2018. The method used in this research is survey and observation method. River transportation is one of the main transportation used by Banyuasin community in implementing activities. River transportation found in the river KTM Telang are canoe, jukung, klotok, speedboat and barges with different uses. The advantage of river transportation is no need to make/build waterways because the river as the infrastructure is naturally available and maintenance of infrastructure that is not too costly, can provide door to door service, able to reach the hinterland with domination waters, the ability to transport goods without affecting the loading of river bodies and being environmentally friendly and not jammed.
