Reduction Of Well Iron Content Using Ferrolite Medium In Water Filter Backwash System

Abstract


The sample of this study is taken from well water at Griya Mariana Permai
District, Banyuasin , South Sumatra. They Complained the well water is
turned into yellow after filtering with the sand, and if used from sewing
with ditergent it is turned blackish.The well water is flowed into the filler
with the initial by using a 4 inch PVC pipe with 130 cm into height with the
initial condition are pH 3, Fe 4.58, turbidity 10 Ntu. the height of ferrolite -
silica sand - active carbon are varried : a.15cm-30cm-30cm b.25cm-30cm-
30cm c.35cm-30cm-30cm d.45cm-30cm-30cm after treatment the result of
Fe contained are : a.15cm-30cm-30cm: 1,26mg / l, b.25cm-30cm-30cm:
1.12mg / l, c .30 cm-30cm-30cm: 0.86mg / l, d.40 cm-30cm-30cm 0.32 mg /
l And the optimum condition of decreasing Fe contained is at the medium
d.45cm-30cm-30cm : 93.01%.
